Marine Personal Trainer
On-demand fitness coaching for the Gustavia yacht-and-villa set
Why Go
Between the sunset apéro and the next long lunch, someone on St Barth still has to keep the abs honest. Marine Personal Trainer meets you where you're already standing — the teak of your yacht, the pool deck of your villa, or a quiet corner of Gustavia — so a workout doesn't require rearranging the whole day.
The Experience
This is training built for how people actually move through St Barth: sessions come to you rather than the other way around, which is the whole point when your base for the week is a charter yacht in the harbor or a hillside villa above Shell Beach. Expect a private, one-on-one feel ΓÇö the kind of session where the coach reads the room (jet-lagged, hungover, race-week-sharp) and adjusts on the fly. Programming tends to lean functional and outdoor-friendly: bodyweight strength, mobility, cardio intervals, and beach or stair work that takes advantage of the island's terrain. Because the setup is mobile, the equipment travels light ΓÇö bands, TRX, kettlebells, a mat ΓÇö which is a feature, not a bug, in a place where a proper gym floor is rarely the most inspiring option available.
What to Try
Book a sunrise session before the heat settles in ΓÇö Gustavia's quiet streets and the stairs up to Fort Karl are a natural circuit, and you'll be showered and at the boulangerie before most of the island is awake. If you're aboard a yacht, ask for a deck-friendly mobility and core session; it's the format that translates best to a moving platform and leaves you loose for the day. Villa guests should request a mixed strength-and-conditioning block that finishes with a swim.
Insider Tip
Reach out the day you arrive, not the day you want to train. In high season (ChristmasΓÇôNew Year, February, and around the Bucket Regatta), independent trainers on St Barth get locked up fast by returning charter clients, and a standing 7 a.m. slot for the week is far easier to arrange up front than to squeeze in later.
The Practical Stuff
Based in Gustavia (97133), St Barthélemy. Sessions are typically mobile — delivered at your villa, on your yacht in Port de Gustavia, or at an agreed outdoor spot — so confirm the location and any equipment needs when you book. Bring your own water, a towel, and shoes you can actually sweat in; the sun is stronger than it feels off the trade winds. Contact ahead to confirm current rates, session length, and availability, especially during regatta weeks and the December–February peak.
Pair It With
- Absolute Hot Yoga — A Gustavia studio session is a natural complement on rest days when you still want to move but don't want to lift.
- 6e SENS MASSAGE Wellness Beauty Saint Barth — Book a massage for the afternoon after a hard session ΓÇö recovery is half the reason you're training on vacation in the first place.
- Abyss Restaurant — A protein-forward dinner in Gustavia is an easy walk from most training locations and keeps the day's work from going to waste.
